MTA Approves Updated NYC Congestion Pricing Plan

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) approved the updated NYC congestion pricing plan released by Governor Kathy Hochul. Starting in January 2025, cars entering below 60th Street in Manhattan will be subject to a $9 toll, which will rise to $12 in 2028 and $15 in 2031. Supporters such as MTA CEO Janno Lieber tout benefits like additional funding for public transit and reduced GHG emissions, while opponents including New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy argue that the toll will disproportionately affect New Jersey residents.
