The Houses that Can’t be Built in America – The Missing Middle

In many US (and Canadian) cities, most people have only two choices when deciding where to live: an apartment (or condo or flat) or a single family home. The housing options in-between these two extremes — called “Missing Middle Housing” — have been legislated almost out of existence. Now many city leaders are starting to rethink these regulations, having recognized how such ordinances have limited the housing options for their residents.
