Communicating the Benefits of TOD: The City of Evanston’s Transit-Oriented Redevelopment and the Hudson Bergen Light Rail Transit System (2006)
Cali Gorewitz and Gloria Ohland (Reconnecting America’s Center for Transit-Oriented Development), Carrie Makarewicz and Albert Benedict (Center for Neighborhood Techology) and Dr. Jan Wells and Martin Robins (Alan M. Voorhees Transportation Center)

This report tells a story of three cities — Jersey City and Hoboken in New Jersey, and Evanston, Illinois — that have experienced a lot of development since the late 1980s, reversing decades of decline. It explores the rise of transit-oriented development in these places and how the cities’ quality of life has improved with walkable downtowns and desirable amenities.
