Free transit initiative for teens, seniors in Burlington launches today

As of August 2nd, seniors aged 65 and older as well as teens can ride transit free of charge in Burlington, Ontario. The initiative follows the successful 2019 pilot program that saw a 41 percent increase in senior riders. The City expects to spend $160,000 for senior rides and $84,000 for teen rides. Riders will need to obtain a $6 Presto card, but can obtain one for free at the Downtown Bus Terminal in July and August. The City plans to explore free transit for all riders to support of its environmental goals.
