South Central Transit-Oriented Development: Connecting Our City

Long-range planner for the City of Phoenix, Elias Valencia, and city residents discuss the South Central TOD policy plan, an effort to transform one of the city’s corridors by 2045. Through more than two and half years extensive engagement, the community identified areas for investment in higher density development while preserving cultural points of pride and historic neighborhoods along the corridor. The plan aims to boost the local economy, enhance walkability, and create a “15-minute city” in the Central City South area, where few residents own vehicles and many rely heavily on public transportation.
