Once in a Century Opportunity – Transit Oriented Communities Around VTA’s BART Silicon Valley

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) discusses the evolution of Santa Clara Valley from farmlands to a global tech center and highlights the opportunities and challenges that accompany the region’s growth. The VTA introduces the BART Silicon Valley Phase II project, which aims to extend transit access through San Jose and Santa Clara. The agency seeks to create Transit-Oriented Communities (TOCs) that offer diverse housing, employment opportunities, and vibrant public spaces around new BART stations. These TOCs aim to reduce traffic by 50 percent compared to conventional housing. The VTA called for public input through attending VTA presentations, contacting local representatives, and participating in online surveys to shape these communities.
